Some Tips in Bringing Your Baby Home

By Amanda Gamdana

Your baby finds it difficult to adapt to the world when he is newly born. The sudden change in his surroundings makes him confused and unhappy whether he has a natural or assisted birth. His protests in the first few weeks hence have to be accepted. A lot of excitement and adjustment will bother you on his or her first day at home. If you stay calm, however, these simple tips will ease the transition for both of you.

Singing a lullaby whenever you can will make your baby extremely comfortable and happy as he is used to your voice since the time he was inside you. By the time he is born, the familiarity of that sound has a remarkable calming effect. The more you communicate with him and the more you use rhyming words the better he feels.

Look at him while you talk so that he is attentive even though he cannot see you that clearly yet. Both you and your newborn have to learn how to best communicate with each other.

Just stroking the arms, legs, back and head will create a marked difference in your bonding with him. If possible, learn about infant massage techniques and incorporate them into your daily routine. Besides strengthening the bond between mother and child, it is a scientifically proven fact that massage also helps to get rid of colic pain and constipation in addition to inducing good sleep pattern.

The confidence of your baby grows when he is held by his mother and this is a proven fact. This keeps him most comfortable. Cuddled next to you, baby feels your warmth as well as the comforting beat of your heart and this familiar rhythm helps him relax and feel secure. Along with your baby even you feel relaxed when you both maintain physical contact.

So attend to him immediately. There are various reasons why your newborn cries. Take him in your arms, cuddle him and try to find out what is ailing him. After that you can respond to his needs quickly.

This is his basic necessity and will not spoil him. Strengthen the bond between you and the baby by always responding to his needs. With the passage of time, moms gradually become conversant with the needs of their babies. When the bond between you and your newborn is created, express your love through all his senses. - 22783
