Three Gifts for Expecting Mothers

By Kim Wright

What should you buy your best friend for that upcoming baby shower? You want to show her that you care, but you also have a relatively small budget of both time and money. Here is a list of potential ideas (from baby onesies to diapers) along with their advantages and pitfalls.

Pacifiers - Pacifiers are an excellent gift and they can be fun too. This is the type of gift where your friend won't initially be enthralled, but later she'll be thanking you.

Baby Clothing - Receiving baby clothes for an expecting mother is the closest thing to heaven on earth. As an added bonus, you'll probably enjoy shopping for the gift just as much as the mother will enjoy receiving it.

Baby Clothes - This gift is probably the most fun gift to give. Not only do you get to go shopping, but what mother doesn't love getting baby clothes. If you are looking for a good time and you want to play it safe, than baby clothes is an excellent option.

Baby Onesies - A relatively inexpensive option within the baby clothes market. Onesies refers to the one-piece "body suits" that newborn babies often wear. These make a great gift and there is a wide variety to choose from.

The snaps on the bottom of baby onesies are extremely useful. When it is time to change Mr. Baby's diaper, you don't have to undress him completely. You simply have to unsnap the bottom of the onesie, change the diaper, and snap the onesie back up again when you're done.

Baby onesies with funny sayings on them are extremely cute. If you can think of a saying that your expecting mother would like, then I recommend buying them a onesie.

In summary remember that there are advantages and disadvantages to every gift. If all else fails, you can feign sickness and hope they forget that you never gave them a baby gift. - 22783
